Not drunk but I saw a guy using an infrared thermometer with a laser beam on it
and just had to have one. About thirteen quid off of Amazon, it's a great toy if you spend a lot of time alone.
My back wall is currently 20.5C, my ceiling is 21C, freezer -18C and my woodburner last night was 382C.
Every boy should have one.

Imagine
If you had this and a laser rangefinder, you could find out just how far away from hot you were.

send the results over wifi and then you could start a database of temperature. Fascinating to review on a quarterly basis with charts. I am in.

Accurate aim could be a problem.
Tell you what, tie the laser thermometer to the face-end of a long, black-painted (so it doesn't reflect sunlight onto the thermometer) brush handle.
Try various points under its landing path to find the optimum location.

I got one fo £9 off eBay
I probably should've bought a more expensive one, the laser is a bit overspec so if I catch a reflection of it off a shiny surface it knackers my eyesight for about 10 minutes. Found that one out measuring the temperature of things inside a PC. I tend not to bother with the laser now.
