My Chicken HellYou know how Tesco now have Scan-It-Yourself checkouts in certain stores? Well, I thought I'd be clever and cheat the system. You see, one Sunday Mrs Defined and myself decided on a lovely roast dinner and so off I trot to the 'Co's to purchase the ingredients; yummy potatoes, bucketfulls of fresh veg and the piece de resistance, a gorgeous organic corn fed chicken. So I gets to the diy checkout and decide I'm going to save myself a few quid. The checkout merrily bleeps away as I scan the veg, and then when I'm sure nobody's looking, I chuck the chicken in a carrier without scanning it, saving some cash to purchase booze and stuff later....
...except later, after consuming the lovely Sunday feast, I find myself not enjoying copious amounts of booze, but instead I'm throwing up my own liver out of my eyeballs as an horrific bout of food poisoning tears through my body.
I've never cheated the Tesco God since. I've learned my lesson.

The food poisoning probably wasn't from the chickenas it takes 12 hours to get into your body and effect you...
That's ofcourse assuming it was not that much later you were throwing up,

Out of interest....How did you beat the scales? If you move more than a few grams from the right side to the left side the checkout gets cross at you and tells you to scan whatever the weight you just moved across was. A whole chicken would definitely get noticed!

^ thisIt's seriously hard to cheat the scales and you must have had to make sure no one was watching if you did pop it in somewhere else!

^^^unless you take the chicken directly from your basket (trolly) directly into a bag that *isn't still on the counter-thingy that has a built-in scale*. Then the register never 'feels' the weight of the item because you never actually put it near the machine.
jeez...I can't believe I just told how to shop-lift and I enforce court orders for criminal convictions for a living. Not good.
