This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

Political correctness means...
...that I never have to watch the Black and White minstrels ever again, except on documentaries about how shit life used to be.
...that I have a fascinating social life involving people of all ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations and religious convictions, who feel free to live their lives without fear of censure.
... and that I have the pleasure of knowing that millions of Daily Mail readers will have read something that upsets them before they've finished their breakfast.

well said!
Albeit a little bit preachy

I agree.
That said, if Daily Mail readers had nothing to complain about, their impotent rage would have no outlet and they'd all have massive strokes - brainstorms, if you will.

Consequently, the Daily Mail would have no readership and would shut down.

Christ, I think I just cracked a fatty at the thought.

Those are three good reasons
For remembering that a lot of things were a lot madder before we woke up and realized it.

From our archives:

Abolish slavery? PC gone mad!
Votes for women? PC gone mad!
Votes for blacks? PC gone mad!
Jim Davidson's not funny? PC gone mad!

I like this.

You do realise that there is a button to express that don't you?

blackface performers...
It's all a bit more complicated than just writing off blackface performers as racist. There were some really interesting challenges on racial stereotypes made through minstrel shows, and plenty of african-americans would also blackface up - not to mention the multitude of traditions that have nothing to do with race at all.

But yeah, bless those Daily Mail readers...
