Not strictly a profession, a 'professional' institution!
The entire (okay, the majority of) staff at Manchester Metropolitan University, administrative and scholarly persons included. Could not tell their collective arses from their elbows. I've never before had the pleasure of spending a year dealing with such a bunch of disorganised and peevish people.
P.s Observations are from personal experience only; I am full of annoyance.
P.p.s That'll teach me to go to a former Polytechnic.

Similarly scarred.
I went to MMU and I was stuck in bloody Alsager which would make the metropolitan area of Manchester bigger than Wales (disclaimer: size comparison may not be entirely accurate).

Thinking Alsager is, in any cunting way, 'metropolitan' may also be not entirely accurate.

The whole place has been fabricated into a web of lies and misundertandings! Can't wait to have done with it.

I left at the end of year one.
Never looked back...mind you that would probably be because I didn't want to look at a field with some shitty buildings in it populated by militant feminists , communists and holier than thou mature students (not all mature students, just the badge wearing, cardigan draped goons who haven't got the guts to be hippies).

Southampton Solent University is no better. Whilst I may have an HNC in Building Surveying I did not receive £3.5k worth of tuition by any stretch of the imagination.

Southampton Solent....
You should try going to the Warsash campus... It may surprise you that the main site is seen as the model of efficiency and glory. They can't even manage to get a timetable written for monday before friday afternoon. Every week.
