Dear Japanese Coworkers,
This is a memorandum to remind those who wish to write English business correspondence to offshore programming teams that the opposite of the English word "increment" is not "excrement". Please make a note of it.

Thanks awfully,

Can you understand the nuances of the Japanese language better than they can understand those of the English language?

Probably not
but then he probably doesn't want to send Japanese business correspondence to offshore programming teams.

of what relevance is this?

Like him down there \/ said.
It's not stupidity. It may have been funny when it was first posted on Engrish.com back in the 90's though.

Can't make that up
(, Wed 9 Mar 2011, 4:03, closed)
No! Don't tell them!

That's great!
I was talking to a German friend about engineering a couple of months ago, and he started telling me about the first ship to circumcise the Earth.

Haha.
Don't tell them though. You awful spoilsport.
(, Wed 9 Mar 2011, 9:48, closed)
Funny, yes...
But your colleagues are hardly stupid when they know enough about a completely foreign language and its rules that they can make a good guess at the oposite of "increment". Heck, I bet only 50% of the population of England could tell you that with any authority.
I'm also not sure now that the oposite of an increment is a decrement.
