RomComs and women's magazines do far more harm than porn, IMHO - both have been accused of creating unrealistic expectations of relationships, but Hollywood romances probably cause more disappointment in the long run.

Though, as you say, it's a good filter to weed out the terminally twee and severely hard of thinking...

Couldn't agree more. Hollywood/TV has a lot to answer for.
As a tool to weed out the mental, yes it was useful, though I would have preferred to not have wasted six months of my life with a girl who turned out to be a fruitloop. Oh well, could have been far worse!

I agree
with more or less all of this, however there are a few more powerful infuences that corrupt their minds.

1. Womens magazines- I could say more but haven't got time.

2. Other women - This culminates in women comparing each others boyfriends level of love and turns into a little competition...Can you imagine blokes doing that?!?!

I lived with a girl, who upon observing me making a cup of tea for my boyfriend at the time commented "Why isn't HE making it for YOU? My boyfriend does nice things for me and makes me tea and dinner!". I looked her in the eye and said "Well, we like to do nice things for each other."
