My hotel room for Sunshine Elephant

I was listening to the soundtrack to Fight Club as I did this. Maybe it had some effect on me...

A healthy crop
Back in the days when I lived in University halls I made the mistake of going home for a week or so.
I returned to find that my corridor mates has bribed the cleaner to let them into my room where they had then planted cress seeds on the carpet through the entire room. As the cleaner had let them in every day to water the crop, I came back to find my room converted into an Arcadian paradise of lush green cress pasture. I kept it for a while - it was actually rather nice vandalism.

My dad
always said that telegraph poles were installed by dropping them from a great height from a helicopter. I believed him for years.

Belfast, circa. 1987
A friend and I were walking out of Makin' Tracks record shop in the center of Belfast when suddenly there was an almighty bang, everyone in the street simultaneously ducked, then looked around, realised the IRA bomb had gone off in the next street and that we were all fine and safe in our street. Everyone carries on as normal.
Turns out the IRA had bombed an empty bus, for some reason. I was just pleased I had got the new Iron Maiden album from Makin' Tracks.

Swiss TV
I was once walking down the glacier alongside the Matterhorn having just climbed the TĂȘte Blanche in the Swiss Alps. Out of nowhere a helicopter swoops down, a TV crew leap out and ask whether they can film us, as they're doing a documentary for Swiss TV. We say "yes" and they film us doing things with ropes, putting on crampons and whatever.
They then leap back into the helicopter and fly off, leaving us slightly gobsmacked in the middle of nowhere.
It was a very odd experience!
