I have a theory,Dogs of the 70s and 80s used to eat more bones than they do now, hence white poo. That is my theory.

Bile pigments are a factor of a functional enterohepatic circulation
white faeces are a result of a defective enterohepatic circulation
The most common reason for this occurring in the 70s/80s and not so much now is due to the fact that we have largely eradicated Rubarth's disease aka infectious canine hepatitis.
In fact, the textbooks of that era are full of long sections regarding hepatitis.
Hepatitis in dogs is now quite uncommon.
White dog crap has disappeared
Unfortunately white dog faeces are therefore not a sign of "good health"

Spot on.My dogs get fed dog food which is basically just raw meat and ground up bones. After a day or two in the garden their poos are bright shiny white.
