I love your stuff, and this is no exception.
Normally I'm a total grammar nazi about 'sliver' (a thin slice) and 'slither' the verb for the movement snakes make.
In this context though I suppose a piece of wet balloon skin sliding to the floor could be a slithering sliver...

i used to manage an off license for a large retail chain
and one particular state manager insisted balloons where everywhere all the time, much to the disgust of one of the most regular customers who would bring her autistic kid with her who screamed in terror and fell flat on his face every time he saw a balloon..it was like watching a jane fonda aerobics work out, one of those fainting goats and rainman smacking himself in the head all rolled into one. quite the amusements let me tell you.
I even bought a doggy bowl out of petty cash to fill with water so she could leave him tied up out the front while she got her drink on but apparently that was inappropriate..

I concur
Billy's Balloon
Billy's Balloon by Don Hertzfeldt
also, despite my saying "I concur" up the top there, how do we feel about those people who climb into big balloons, and even fuck them and junk?

superb
i always have a packet of balloons in my bag. i love the and they are such an easy way to raise a smile in a kid or an adult. i have often noted that they are an excellent lesson for children on the temporary nature of joy. glad you took that sentiment to it's full conclusion.
