I think I used 'disparition'
just because it's the french word for it.
As words ending in 'tion' are often the same in english and french I used 'disparition' without checking it was the proper english word.

I'm not trying to correct your English -
my own is too wobbly for me to do that.
It's just that "disparition", while quite correct, is a rare word in English, that you seldom see.
Apologies for any offence - let's face it, I wouldn't dare try to write this message in French, while your English is better than many of us can manage.
