It is (was?) a programme called Blind Date.

One person chooses one of three other people to go on a date with on the basis of their answers to stupid and inane questions. There is a screen involved, which in this case has been replaced by the Berlin Wall. You're not missing much though, believe me.

I finally got the reference after reading a bit, but Blind Date sounds like a rip off of the Dating Game to me...
