Right people, time for a little lesson...
First, my business has so far donated 500 nicker to the fund, a business which I own and run...
Second, my best friend, Sri Lankan in birth has 124 members of family and friends out there, all of which, THANKFULLY have been fully accounted for... Its hit me too in trying to organise calls, and help her trace people, cost and time is irrelevant in this matter
Third... and more importantly, this is a big disaster, no question, but not the biggest mankind has ever seen, and probably wont be the last either. Ppl from all countries have been rallying around and donating cos they have some of their countrymen out there holidaying/working or staying in these regions, and yes 200,00+ people dead is hard to take in and accept.... YET, every week 10,000 + people, up to 30,000 people die EVERY WEEK in african nations, where starvation, malnutrition, disease, poverty, civil war and suchlike racks thru the countires like a plague, now, total up 10,000 ppl dead every week, thats over half a million peple every year dying, when us 'affluent' countries could be taking a lead,. rather than just handing out cash to tinpot dictators and militants. This my friends, to me anyway, is a much much bigger disaster, and one the world conveniently forgets until a live aid/comic relief event comes around, and we all chip in a pound, why do we do nothing about it? cos more affluent countries dont holiday/earn a living/ holiday out there as much.
I take nothing away from what has happened out in asia, and i have helped in time, money and anyway i can to try and bring something to someone affected over here that i know needs help, i myself too have friends out there who've thankfully let me know they are ok, but please people, lets get this into perspective about this...my post... I WASN'T, repeat WASN'T having a go about the disaster, do you SEE any dead bodies, ruined communities, big waves, mass destruction??? Hmmm??? NO, you DON'T. If you wanted to see a horrific b3ta pic, then go back thru the message board about 4 days and look for the 'wheres wally' link someone put up on a beach scene, it wasn';t originall posted as a link but a big picture. THAT was not nice, and a bit too blunt. I didnt pick the FP, personally I'm not sure whether to thank the mods or not, but I was trying to relieve a little stress with the main aim being the TESCO thing, nothing else, and your own minds have made the link, glorifying this as an outrage, get with the picture people, those asian countries WILL be rebuilt, ppl will never forget, but dont forget those who will never be known, the ones we never seem to take an active interest in to help, and then ask yourself this...
Is one picture really worth making such a fuss over?
/and thank you to those of you who have seen the post for what it is, there are some sane people out there.

Yeah...
What we need is a way of measuring how upset and oversensitive an event will make people. This way people will know how tasteless they can be before being flamed.
The obvious measure of this would be the Diana
scale ...
Diana force 1 - small kittens badly frightened
Diana force 5.3 - Present disaster
Diana force 9 - Universe accidently destroyed
Please feel free to fill in the rest.
Thanks,
Also, while we are at it can someone start an urban legend about a mate of a mate who is a surfer...

or..
Diana Force 0 - any member of the royal family dying
Diana Force 9 - Universe being intentionally destroyed. Which is worse; accident or intent? (I feel a classic pub debate coming on)

Funny you should say that as ...
Apparently there is a fantastic new particle
accelerator just being finished at CERN. This is to be used to investigate how the 'Big Bang'
occurred. Given that we do not know how the Big Bang happened I would be slightly nervous about pissing around colliding very odd particles that we know have something to do with Big Bangs. The answer to the question; what caused the Big Bang? might be 'a bloody great particle accelerator'. That would clearly be a 10 Di event.
