my current cat developed stages before we all moved out.
first, to my brother's room. snuggled his head. next, my room. bump head with paw and purr loudly. when my eyes were open he would lift his paw and open and shut his claws in East-end ganster switchblade fashion. Give up.Then parents. Where he would stroke mum's hair, then lift dad's eyelids with a single claw.
That last one usually worked.
