Yeah, I have always wondered what the limits of a lightsaber are
(when i'm not thinking about ninjas & zombies).
In "phantom menace" (I think) they use their lightsabers to gut through blast doors, which takes a bit of time, so its doubtful if Luke could have whipped off an AT-AT's foot.
I really should do some work (nah).
