that's rather good
I've been using imageready
tho sometimes it really gets in the way of thinking (ie: it fucks me off)
if I get the urge I will try out toonboom studio
it's good enough for tv use and it's not horrifically expensive (might be cheaper if you are a student too dunno)

I use After Effects Myself
Pretty easy to use if you're familiar with Photoshop. I use Imageready to make my GIFs too

I keep meaning to learn after effects
and i know i should as it's wonderful for titles.. which can make a hell of a lot of difference to how professional a short film looks. plus colour balance and all those shinanigans. But i also kinda like the stopmotion like quality the frame by fram manipulation affords.. but I'm always up for an experiment.. to demonoi... I mean to the adobe website!!!

that was
mentioned to me in a multimedia class... I think he also told me of a free one but i really can't remember.
I'm quite liking Ulead to be honest. although things about it piss me off.. as i have very little memory and so every object will end up in the first frame guaranteed.. also an instant resize function a la prem pro wouldn't go a miss. unless it has one and I'm yet to find it.. a la prem pro when i first started using it.

ultimately, you can do anything in anything
it's just the layers of crap that get in the way of your thought process that make the difference
stick with what you know until you find something you can immediately feel is better
unless of course it's your job and you are handed a shitheap and have to live with it :D
