Slightly tangential joke from my french pal Thierry:there are 3 types of fondue:
1) Fondue Bourguignonne where you sit around a pan of heated oil and dip pieces of meat and veg in it.
2) Fondue Suisse/Jura where you sit around a pan of heated cheese (Gruyere) with white wine, garlic and nutmeg, dipping pieces of bread in it.
3) Fondue Belge where you sit around a bowl of mashed potatoes and dip chips in it.
