My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

No way is that common.If you described it as "pure stunnin', man" then it would have been. Or if you'd ended up in the middle of the queue for the drive-thru by not being able to control the slide.
