Creepy!
Smash Monkey asks: "what's the creepiest thing you've seen, heard or felt? What has sent shivers running up your spine and skidmarks running up your undercrackers? Tell us, we'll make it all better"

Back when I was at primary school
There was an abandoned abbatoir right next to our playground. It was an old, square grey building, with just a fence separating it and the playground. You could see right into it too, there were huge hooks hanging from chains, red paint spattered on the walls, and a huge freezer where all the meat was kept. Could you think of a worse place to build a bloody school?!
It makes me all shuddery to think if it.

I dunno,
Our school was built between a mushroom farm, a sewage works and a pig farm. Summer was not fun at school, whichever way the wind blew.

I've a few schools on my list of clients, the majority of which are CofE VC. Being (orignially) church schools, they are built on church land - meaning that the playground is situated right next to the church graveyard. The majority of the graves are filled by the playground's previous occupants. Looking at the two sites from the gate, it rather feels that from from childhood to death they moved only a matter of yards, reducing their entire lives to 'some stuff that happened inbetween'. I find it really quite gloomy.

One school I worked at
Had a very small playground and so was given permission to use the adjoining churchyard as a playground!

Our primary school was right next to a sexual health clinic.
That's probably why I didn't get pregnant or the clap until I was at least twelve.
It also meant that when we went behind the bikesheds for a smoke (because I grew up in a cliché) we were overlooked by all the starchy matronly nurses.
Back in a bit. Just got to give some very careful thought to starchy matronly nurses.

My primary school backed on to a mental hospital
Sometimes you would see plates and such come flying out of the windows. True story.
