The day I got the call my dad had died...
Friday morning - I'd been in for about 45 minutes and got the call. So there I was, wandering in the yard, completely dazed with tears streaming down my face.

My boss pulled up, took one look at me and said "Get in."

We drove across town to my mum's house in about 2 minutes (normally takes 7 or so).

He dropped me off and said "Take whatever time off you need."

When I did get back to work a couple of weeks later, the amount of calls I got from customers (who'd tried contacting me and had been told why I was away) offering their condolences was astounding - not all customers are complete wankers.
