sounds fabulous. my sister is a social worker and deals with similarly-damaged kids. she's so far:
--had two black eyes (not at the same time)
--a swollen lip
--dozens of cuts and scratches
--40 or 50 death threats

She still loves doing it, and cried when she had to leave the last school she was at.
