It's Not What It Looks Like!

What have you done that, in retrospect, you'd really rather nobody had seen, mostly as things just get worse the more you try to explain it?

I tried to buy some recently
(while also on a cycling/camping holiday).
I tried the chemist in the town as I thought they'd be the obvious choice but the person behind the counter didn't even know what meths was.
