I'd make sure you have an proper idea of what owning one is like first
maybe look after someone's for them or something. They're alright but they're not hugely rewarding, are complex to care for and can be pretty grumpy things. I'm always a bit sceptical when it comes to people wanting to own reptiles.
It's hilarious when they try to attack/mate with things and make that squeek-toy noise though.
