Wool
also comes in "nigger brown", as I found out while chatting to an old lady patient while I was a receptionist and crocheting while I worked on the desk. I was making the obligatory smalltalk when she dropped the phrase into the conversation, much to my astonishment having never heard it before. It used to be widely recognised as a specific shade, apparently.
