Racist grandparents
It Came From Planet Aylia says: "My husband's mad Auntie Joan accused the man seven doors down of stealing her milk as he was the first black neighbour she had. She doesn't even get her milk delivered." Tell us about casual racism from oldies.
Thanks to Brayn Dedd who suggested this too

Your post reminds me of my granny. This QOTW highlights the bad and ugly, nice to hear about the good as well.
My granny on my step dads side was what you could say a stereotypical granny. Lived in Dorset which is far from being ethnically diverse, served tea in her best china, doilies over the sofa arms, waved her cane at those pesky skateboarding kids outside her house, loved indoor bowls, read the fucking daily mail of all bloody papers. Quintessentially English from a merchant navy family.
In the early 1970's my mum (black Trinidadian divorcee with two kids in tow) and step dad married. She was the one who welcomed us into her family without question. She was the one who in her own mind had gained more family and she was the one who saw us as people not color. She did this so very unconsciously as it was just her the way she was.
And she was also the one who more or less disowned her own daughter for being a racist bitch with her awful jokes and jibes, treating my mum, sister and I like second class citizens, sitting us at the back of the church when our cousins got married and not recognising my sister as I as being proper relatives.

are you sure that was race-based?
and not that you shamed her in many other ways?
Why is it always about race with you?
;)

Those people were weak.
They shouldn't have left so soon.
Someone in that videograph clearly needs reminding what service means.
