In the UKRape can only be committed by a man, the Sexual Offences Act 2003 states that a person commits the offence if - he intentionally penetrates the vagina, anus or mouth of another person (B) with his penis.
A woman commits a sexual assault, but not rape, as defined by Law.
Incidentally, the word "rape" derives from the Latin noun "Raptus" which means abduction, looting or robbery. The verb "Rapto, Raptare" simply means "to seize and carry off or plunder", not necessarily boning someone without their consent, that has grown into the present definition over hundreds of years.
