Gotta agree with you. You don't have to poke some people too hard with a stick before they reveal their true colours. And (as a man) I notice the really hateful 'jokey' stuff about the acceptability of violence to women comes from men (or should that be boys?)

I think what this reveals is that many men despise women out of fear. Women have the power to control and even humiliate men in so many ways that men are often nervous in their presence and this fear leads them to dislike and sometimes hatred. Of course the vast majority of women don't go round humiliating men but men know it would be so easy for them to do so. This power is heavily related to sex of course.

Much as I love b3ta, it is completely predicated on juvenile humour so maybe we're just being a tad too serious in expecting the 'clientele' to be a bit more respectful? But, you know, not many chuckles in this thread really, are there?
