Personally, last month a scantily clad young woman confused me with her fiance, with whom I share a first and last name. I'm still not sure she's noticed, but she's going to be mortified when she does.

@Enzyme and JohabMorelliYes, I have heard something about that, to do with how it was derived from the Greek - or something long those lines.
It's not so much about, 'I'm British, and therefore I'm right', it's more about 'It's an alternative spelling you morons'.
But we invented the language so there ^_^
