They might still be there...They might still be there, as Just_Mister says. You're right in saying they're not hidden - the OS just might not be able to find them because the file table's corrupted or something. The raw data might well still be on the memory card, but you'll need some kind of file recovery tool to get at it. Search download.com for 'file recovery' and you might find something that can help. It'll scan the card and see if it can find files or file fragments. If you're lucky, you'll be able to recover some of it.
