That's what I discovered how to fix. Right click on the frames in the animation toolbar and click "Use Background" rather than "Do Not Dispose". Problem solved
Unfortunately this adds a lot to the file size

The one that pops up is actually the title tag.
Alt tag only appears in lieu of the picture loading.

I'm not keen on vector painting, you end up with nasty bubbly edges. I did end up using masks for the top bit of my head though, as that wasn't against the grass
It's just a shame that ImageReady doesn't support the alpha channel in Quicktimes or in image sequences.....
