Hello my funky little gropes. If any of you nice people fancy helping me out, I have a site I've set up as an example site to show off my freelance skills.
It's a site for people that enjoy photography where they can upload photos and whatnot. It just needs some content to make it look spiffy.
If any of you fancy registering there and sticking a few photos up, I would be eight grateful. Eight!
It's to be found at www.chortleberry.com if you're up for it. :)

Matthew Wright made a good point yesterday (honest... bear with me...)
Why has the govenernment given £100 million to Northern Rock ( a private company) rather than invest that money in the Post Office?

b) because if they allowed NR to go bankrupt then other banks would become the target of speculation and continuing runs, other smaller banks would then find themselves running out of money rapidly and the larger ones would end up shoring them up. this would lead to an inevitable loss of trust in banking here and in the US, which would in turn lead to less and less money being put into them, slowing the already sluggish econmy and causing mass recession.
A simple domino effect form one bank going under would put all other banking insitutions in trouble and the world would probably end.
Or similar.

Is not at all giving out the wrong message to other city suits:
"Don't worry if you waste tonnes of money, you'll get a golden handshake and a big payout from the government"

but if NR goes bankrupt then all those people with savings and mortgages also go bankrupt and that fucks up an awful lot of people. shutting post offices just annoys old people.

you're not seriously asuggesting that the government made a decision based on economic factors, rather than protecting their image?

the failure of Northern Rock was absolutely in no way related to the poor business decisions and greed of the owners, and therefore should be supported by the tax payer.
The post office's problems are to do with shifts in trends due to technology, but it still remains a vital service that is unfortunately unable to compete with email and so forth. So it's all the post office's own fault, and why should the government support this essential service?

a vital service - for example, if I wish to transfer a parcel from location A to location B, I simply email it!
I can send attachments of up to 3.5kg with my computer!
Beep brimshaws!
I would miss my local post office a bit if it went. Every time I've been in there, it's just one man, on his own, in a white room, behind sheets
of reinforced plexiglass. I wonder if he ever gets to leave?

A very nice lady called "Jane" works there.
After she has weighed parcels, she turns round to the label machine.
She wears very tight black trousers and has a very lovely bottom.
This has positive effects on my wellbeing.
Unfortunately, my continuous string of packages mailed to myself is making me skint!.
Anybody need anything small sending to them?...... Please?......

In Swansea City Centre, the got rid of the main huge post office and stuck it upstairs in WH Smiths, with it's own little Starbucks next to it :D

I had a postoffice that was literally up the road from me, it was there for *decades* then they closed it down, and a year later the next nearest one was closed and now they're planning on closing 5 others in my region, leaving just one or two main ones which are under-staffed so you're left queueing for fucking ages
