*claps like a big fat seal*
The car I am possibly getting is a diesel.

Corsa :-)
I've got to get my license yet. But it's a friend's mum's car- she's being given it and she's already got one.

It's in perfect nick.
Or are you ouching that I don't drive yet? I used to ride, but I've never had the need to drive. The only reason I'm going to be doing now is that it means I can work further from home which is probably going to be forced upon me in the next few years if I stay in operations management.

go for it - in the long run, it's still cheaper than petrol
I used to drive a petrol primera, 4 years ago - £40-50 a week back then to get a shade over 300 miles. I now drive a diesel (mainly) and get double the distance out of a full tank, and it costs me £60 to fill up

See, this is the thing.
At most in a week I'll be going about 150 miles. But my dad's always sworn by diesel.

He's a numpty
but occasionally he speaks the truth. Cars, music and politics, you're fine. ANYTHING ELSE, start running.

mine dear papa
is trying to get me to trade my nearly-dead golf (petrol, does about 25 MPG these days as it's dying) for a diesel, which is a fine idea.
Problem is he wants me to get a diesel polo estate. Which IMO is a less fine idea.
