but when I saw The Blair Witch Project at the cinema it rather shit me up.

It is actually a very well-told horror story if you listen closely.
The tale of the witch/guy who used to kidnap kids then make them turn around and put their hands on the wall while he killed their friends was very nasty.
Especially when later on in the film when the last 2 characters go searching through the house and BAMMMM! there on the wall are hundreds of handprints.

Blair Witch is

the only film where I have ever had to leave halfway through because it made me vomit. Although that would be more to do with the camera work combined with the monumental hangover I was nursing than anything else.

The real reason
was that I went to the cinema with a raging hangover and the camera work made me throw up.

Sorry to disappoint, but I really don't find the film scary.

Oddly, a film that I found terrifying at the cinema, although less so when I watched it again on DVD, was Event Horizon. Have no idea why it shat me up so much first time round, but it really did.

I agree
When I went to see the film in the cinema, I still genuinely believed that it was real, recovered footage.

The filmmakers and producers tried to convince as many gullible people as possible that it was real and kept the lie going as long as they could - giving false interviews in newspapers, putting loads of weird shit on the internet for us kids to find.

I'm not usually so supportive of advertisers flat-out lying, but I'm glad I was gullible enough when I was 15 to get the bejesus scared out of me good and proper.

Great film - probably not worth a rewatch though. Can't wait to have kids so I can tell them it's real.
