this reminds me......of another tale of educational misdirection I heard, possibly urban legendary; probably from this very site:
A group of pupils brought THREE pigs into school, painted the number "1" on one, "2" on another, and "4" on the last.
Apparently the staff rounded up pigs 1, 2, and 4 rapidly; but spent the rest of the day searching for pig #3.
