I'm very sorry to be the bearer of such terrible news,
But I'm posting this on behalf of my dear friend Prof Kenny Martin. (aka Kerry)
Jessie (Nina), his lovely other half was killed in a car accident this morning. He has asked me to let you all know, and that he'll not be reachable by phone for the present as I'm sure you'll all understand.
By all means gaz me, and I will pass all messages on.
My heart goes out to him, as do my deepest sympathies to him, his and Nina's family.
Edit: Rest assured I will pass on everyone's condolences. Thanks guys.

And I just want to say a few words more. Having met quite a few of the people on b3ta, I've met some people who I'd otherwise only met through the Internet. Of these people, pkm and Nina are some of the finest, even letting me pass out on their floor once. From the three occasions we've met in real life I found them to be the sort of people I wish I could hang out with more often. I'm genuinely heartbroken that such a cruel thing could happen to such a lovely couple.

So sorry.
that's not fair.
it's just... not fair. There's no other way of saying it.
I've had the Prof as a facebook friend for a while now, and I never realised that his much-loved Nina was the beautiful naked dancing Jessie.
When things like this happen (and sadly it's the second time in six months I've heard such devastating news) I feel so useless, as I'm sure we all do.
I wish I knew Nina. I didn't, but I know from Kerry's facebookposts and all the responses above she must have been very special.
Love to Kerry and family - including one probably very confused puppy.

But please send my condolences on. Having been "widowed" by a fiancee`, I sympathize greatly. Madeleine L'Engle wrote that losing a loved one is an amputation. It's much worse than losing a parent or sibling -- perhaps only surpassed by losing a child.
Would that there was something magical, healing or even right to say to Prof. Martin and Jessie/Nina's survivors. But I can only commiserate with how unfair it all seems, especially because judging from her profile, she seemed a remarkable woman, free of malice and full of life. And the world will be lesser for not having her continued contributions to it.
And the raccoons will surely notice their loss of her goodwill.

Not much I can say really.
She seems to have been a delightful lady. I didn't know her, and now never will. That seems a great shame from what I can see of her posts and the reaction her tragic and untimely death has caused.

A terrible tragedy
There are no words that could soothe the pain of such a loss to those who knew and loved Nina.
I never knew her, never even corresponded with her, but the outpourings of love and sympathy I've read in the messages above have shown me that Nina was a very special person to many.
So, my sympathies go to Kerry and to Nina's family, but also to all my fellow B3tans who have lost a good friend.
Best wishes,
Adrian
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord;
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.

then I'd like to let you and your families know that I enjoyed Jessie's posts immensely and they always brought a smile to my day. She'll be sorely missed.
You take good care of yourself Prof. There's a lot of people who're thinking kind thoughts about both Jess and you. x

Not enough words.
Even though Jessie and I only spoke briefly a few times about the Derby bashes (considered attending the 2007 one, now I wish I did), this still saddens me.
I can only offer condolences. :(

Likewise, I post rarely but do enjoy reading.
From what I read of her input here, Jessie was one of those people who made places like this a rare delight and often a haven of human kindness, so desperately lacking in many other sites.
My heart goes out to her family and friends at this time, it's very sad to read of her passing. R.I.P. Jessie.

sends his sincere condolences. 26 is no age, but from what fellow b3ta folk say, she were a lovely lass and lived life to the full. Good on her, may she rest in peace.

Wish I'd made it to the last Derby bash now - Jessie was one of the first people to welcome me on b3ta, so was Kerry and I associate a lot of my fondest board and bash memories with them both. My thoughts are with Kerry and Nina's family and friends. What a lovely lovely lady to have known.
I've already sent a text and a facebook message - for some reason I came here last, I don't want to bombard him so please don't worry about passing this on. Just wanted to write something.

Hello
Whilst this is sad, I wonder how b3tans usually react to such news (no, I don't actually...filth, smut, innuendo and general bad taste).
I can only hope that when I go people will say: Cheerio!...
...now who's round is it?

I only heard on Wednesday so still reeling a bit.
For the Derby bash last year I was proper broke so couldn't afford a hotel. Even though she barely knew me and we had never met she got in touch, and her and lovely Kerry kindly put me up in their joint and looked after me.
A truly good, gorgeous lady with a smile and a kind word for everybody. Christ she will be missed.
She liked my robots and I tried doing a drawing for this time, can't quite manage to just yet. But I will.
Big hugs to Kerry x

I have a concert (choir) at the same time as Nina's funeral. I will be singing beautiful Brahms love songs and I will sing them for Jessie and Prof Kenny.

Just got home from a week without internet, what awful news to be greeted by. I was never fortunate enough to meet Jessie in person, but still know she was a very special and lovely part of this place. Her famous dancing gif was one of the earliest things I remember from b3ta.
My heartfelt condolences to the Prof, family and friends.

So wrong.
Jessie rates very very highly in Blackmoon's list of lovely people. How this can happen to somebody so young, beautiful, cheerful, friendly and above all so bloody special is just so wrong. I went to Jessie's bash in Derby two or three years ago, (Maybe ten) and this was the only time I met her, but that one evening and next morning I spent with her was enough for me to know she was truly one of a kind. Not a bad word for anybody.
I hadn't eaten much on the day of the bash, and an empty stomach coupled with a few beers made me rather ill. Jessie looked after me, holding my hand- holding me up! Next morning she made me the most wonderful cup of coffee from fresh beans in that awfully noisy machine of hers. I'll always remember that coffee just like I'll always remember Nina. xxx
All the best to Kerry, friends, relatives....
Not sure what else to say. How can you put feelings like this into words? I don't have the words.

Homage
I don't hang around the boards much and hardly ever post. Can someone describe what Nina meant to the boards? And post a link to her contributions if possible. It's obvious she was important to B3ta but I'm clueless as to the (obviously justified) reason for that.

Have a look at her profile if you haven't found it already.

I'm honored that I'm mentioned in there- always have been.
The reason for the multitude of posts is that Jessie was just a wonderful human being. Simple as. She took time to be friendly to everyone. When you had a disagreement on the board, she wouldn't just fly off the handle and throw you abuse, she'd discuss it in a sensible manner.
Also, her spelling, punctuation, capitalization and grammar was perfect. That's a big plus in my book.

My sincere condolences
Haven't been a b3ta member for long, and have rarely posted, but I do spend a fair amount of time reading, and enjoying the QOTW. Quite often, the same names crop-up. I can't honestly say that I remember seeing Jessie's, but I remember reading the Prof. from time-to-time. I have since read Jessie's profile, and she seemed like a lovely, lovely person.
For what it's worth, I offer my sincere condolences for your loss. I genuinely don't know what more to say, but felt obliged to post and pay my respects. With kindest regards, TH.

Miss you, Jessie.
I wish I wasn't emerging from semi-retirement under such circumstances, but Jessie will be greatly missed by this Doctor.
She was there when I attended my first ever Bash, which I guess must be about five or six years ago. As you all know, I'm a shy and retiring kinda guy. I wandered into the James Brindley, looking for a bunch of Internet Geeks. They were easy to spot and turned out to be some of the acest people ever. Jess was amongst the first to welcome me to the "real world" B3tards, and introduced me to many people who would become good friends.
The B3ta "digital media arts community" (that's how I describe it to my mum) have been a wonderful bunch, and I've made some firm friends (oo-er)... and I'm happy to remember Jess as one of the very first, representing all that's good about "the internet bringing people together". Sounds like cheesy Microsoft marketing blurb, but it's true.
I've made some great friends online, and Jess is an example of all that's lovely: She was warm, caring, friendly, had a great collection of sexy boots, and will always be remembered by all that knew her.
Miss you Jess, but I know we'll always raise a glass or two wherever your friends get together, and you'll never be forgotten.
